There is still no date for when the Warrington Borough Council 2017/18 Accounts will be signed off. The delay has been caused by a public objection concerning the treatment of the Council's investment in Redwood Bank. Our Finance spokesperson, Cllr Ian Marks, says:
The unofficial Remembrance Day Service at The Cenotaph in Warrington has led to controversy between the Conservative and Labour Parties. Around 200 people gathered in the centre of town despite the official event having been called off by the Council because of COVID restrictions.
When the Liberal Democrats took over the leadership of the Council in 2006, the domestic recycling rate was 14%. When we left control in 2011 it had increased to 43% and we had climbed nearly 200 places in the local authority league table. Much of this was due to the blue bins we are proud to have introduced. At the last Council meeting I asked why the rate had only increased to 44% in 2018/19.
The Liberal Democrats are committed to supporting British farming to continue safeguarding our environment and producing the high quality food we all want for generations to come.
We cannot let the Conservatives make the people who can least afford it pay for their mistakes and economic chaos.
