The Liberal Democrats are submitting a Motion to the full meeting of Warrington Council on 13 June asking for a Climate Emergency to be declared.

The Motion is being proposed by Lib Dem Leader, Cllr Bob Barr, and seconded by Cllr Brian Axcell who is an Energy Engineer.

Cllr Barr says, "Many Councils up and down the country have declared a Climate Emergency and we think Warrington should do the same. Human activity has caused massive adverse impacts all over the world. Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide exceeds the level deemed to be safe for humanity. Society needs to change its laws, taxation and infrastructure to make low carbon living the new norm. If there is a concerted and ambitious effort to take action now, it is not too late to reverse the trend.

Lymm Liberal Democrats ran a street stall in the Village centre on a rainy Saturday to encourage residents to voice their opposition to Warrington Council's Local Plan proposals.

The closing date for comments on the consultation proposals is 17 June.

Councillor Ian Marks says, "It is vitally important that as many people as possible submit their thoughts to the Council. What is being proposed for the south of Warrington will have a huge effect on the quality of life of people here. We do not believe the Plan is sound. We accept that some development is needed but we do not accept the scale and nature of what is being put forward. Little has changed from the previous version.

Theresa May is trying to push through a deal that panders to her party's extreme fringe and Nigel Farage. Again and again, Jeremy Corbyn has helped her, letting down Labour supporters across the UK.

Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson, Layla Moran MP who is a former Physics teacher, has unveiled plans for a new cross-party Education Commission to look at this proposal.
